KH Kala Soudha Inagural Festival



KH Kala Soudha (Kengal Hanumantiah Kala Soudha) is being launched on 15, 16 & 17 January, 2010. There are three performances lined up...

15th will have the official lighting the lamp at 6 PM and Pallavi MD will be performing at 7.30.  She is putting up an ensemble of rare gems from Kannada light music collection. 

16th will have Prakash Belwadi's brand new play Corilanus by Shakesphere.  A story of war between two powerful kings.  Sihi Kahi Chandru, Balaji Manohar, Gowri Dattu, Raghav Shimoga make the on stage cast.  This play has been created by Prakash Belwadi for Chitra.

17th will have Mayuri Upadhya performing to end the inaugural festival.  Nritarutya – led by Artistic Director Mayuri Upadhya is a nine year old charitable Indian contemporary dance trust and an ICCR empanelled performing unit creating contemporary dances based on Indian ideologies. They represent some of the best progressive and innovative movement arts in India today. Nritarutya’s core team tap into their diverse backgrounds from Bharatnatyam and Kathak to Kalaripayattu, Taek-Won-Do and modern dance to craft uplifting artistic entertainment that has captivated audiences across five continents by delivering over 500 performances.

For the inauguration, Nritarutya will present four sequences of diverse themes. Beginning with a traditional composition on the popular goddess of the hindu pantheon – Laxmi, the presentation moves on to a technical piece using a huge property (a 12 ft see-saw) showing different layers of a man, followed by a sequence on the co-existence of opposition in one’s inner self using projection of paintings and ending with a sequence from the youth wing that brings to fore the qualities in the youth of today.
